SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS
April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness MonthSexual assault takes many forms - it is any unwanted sexual contact, including rape, attempted rape, and child sexual abuse. It can affect people of any gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or ability.
According to the National Violence Against Women Survey, 1 in 6 American women has been the victim of rape or attempted rape.
Perpetrators of sexual assault can be friends, acquaintances, family members, or strangers. Working together, we can raise awareness, change attitudes, and help prevent sexual assault.
As District Attorney Mike Kogut will make the protection of women and children a priority. He will institute inter-disciplinary protocols to prevent sexual assaults and swiftly prosecute those who perpetrate them. He will be a strong and forceful advocate for victims of sexual abuse. He will be a consistent and persistent voice for more funding for shelters and support services for victims of sexual assaults and all forms of domestic violence. Click here for Resource Links
